Meet the team

Boudewijn and Francoise are the joint driving force behind Midland Lead's path to sustainable growth, and the company's unrelenting focus on its customers and people. When not at work or spending time with his family, you'll find Boudewijn enjoying time away with friends on the slopes, or more recently, the golf course.

Francoise and Boudewijn are the joint driving force behind Midland Lead's path to sustainable growth, and the company's unrelenting focus on its customers and people. If she's not driving her teenage daughter around to football training, Francoise loves spending time walking the Derbyshire countryside with her chocolate labrador, reading or painting.

Rosa takes her role seriously and is the first to instigate some physical exercise ('walkies') if the office energy drops. She's also a self-appointed 'taste tester' of any office snacks.

Shirley is a 'second timer' at Midland Lead - she left the company for a new role but missed the energy and motivation in our sales office (and also Jasmin's tea-making skills). Shirley loves her holidays, in particular Greece. We're happy to have you back, Shirley!

Shelley is a 'second timer' at Midland Lead - she left the company for a new role but missed the culture and Team Midland Lead. We were delighted to welcome her back in 2023! When Shelley's not busy helping our customers, she loves holidaying and cooking.

Kyle joined Midland Lead in 2015 as Telesales Executive and quickly demonstrated a natural rapport with Midland Lead customers. This was rewarded with a promotion to Regional Sales Manager only 18 months later, seeing Kyle out on the road strengthening these relationships with customers and channel partners.

Kyle’s industry knowledge and impressive work ethic have been recognised by both national and local industry. In 2018 he won ’Young Employee of the Year’ in the Burton Mail Business Awards, and latterly won two awards from the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) for ‘Young Supplier Achiever 2022’ and ‘Top 100 Supplier Influencer’ in 2023.

There’s not much Kyle doesn’t know about the lead industry, and today his role as Sales Director gives him the opportunity to create impact with all our key stakeholders – independent and national merchants, contractors, export agents, trade bodies. We’re proud of your success, Kyle!

A member of Team Midland Lead for an impressive four decades, there's not much David doesn’t know about our export market! A frequent traveller who supports Midland Lead customers all over the world, David also enjoys the tranquility of getting dirty in his garden.

Jas loves the relationships she's built with her customers over time. If she's not at work you'll find her spending time with friends or enjoying a well deserved holiday.

Thomas loves sharing his knowledge of radiation protection with Midland Lead customers all over the world. Outside work you'll likely find him at the gym or watching his beloved football.

Liam is a new member of Team Midland Lead and is enjoying all the learning and development opportunities. In his spare time he loves playing football and going to the gym.

Alex loves spending time out on the road with customers in her role as Regional Sales Manager. Outside work she keeps her energy levels high with hiking and Thai boxing!

Mark is our Financial Controller and enjoys the friendly vibe here at Midland Lead. He enjoys eating out, live concerts and gardening (though not all at the same time).

Wendy enjoys her work as a Financial Administrator, loving being part of a great team. Outside work you'll find Wendy walking her dog or buried in a good book.

Colleen is a new member of our Finance team, welcome Colleen! She loves the friendly and inclusive atmosphere here at Midland Lead, and enjoys doing fun activities with her family in her spare time.

Jonna is a new member of our Finance team (welcome, Jonna!) and is enjoying learning new skills and problem solving. Outside of work you'll find Jonna spending time with family, or getting lost in a good book.

It's Steve's job to keep the wheels turning in the Midland Lead plant, and he thrives on the challenges of optimising machinery and processes. In his spare time he enjoys the gym and comedy, commenting 'sometimes both feel the same....'

It was a career change that brought Tom to Midland Lead after he decided that university life wasn’t for him. Tom initially came to Midland Lead via an agency, as Production Operative. After joining, he mentioned his interest in Maintenance, and the Operations Team arranged for Tom to work on more maintenance related tasks. He now works in Maintenance full time – fixing anything that breaks down, managing and planning projects and performing regular checks on equipment. “I enjoyed Production as you know what you’re doing every day – it gives you peace of mind” comments Tom. “But Maintenance is where my passion is – I can work independently, and the work is interesting and varied. It’s a very friendly atmosphere here – the difference between a family-run business versus a corporate. People take their work seriously but it’s also very relaxed.”

Charlotte Summers joined Team Midland Lead in 2018 as Purchasing Co-ordinator, working alongside Finance. Since then, her hands-on attitude and willingness to take on new responsibilities has seen her create impact across many different areas of the business! In 2019 Charlotte led a new IT system deployment, becoming super user and training every department on the Business Central platform. During Covid she started to help out in Production and Operations, and her role today as Operational Excellence Manager sees her driving efficiency improvements with a ‘Mrs Hinch’ approach that keeps the factory spotless!

Charlotte is also responsible for managing the operations team and recruiting new members of Team Midland Lead. “It’s great here, but there’s also reality to consider” comments Charlotte. “You’re touching cold lead all day, when it’s cold it’s freezing and when it’s hot, it’s hot! Our staff must be clean shaven and need to shower at the end of each shift. The lead is heavy – our workers make it look easy, but the ‘lead gym’ can be tough for new starters! But we’re a family run company, and the hours are great, especially for those with young children. This is fantastic workplace for people who want to be curious, step up and do a great job”.

John, a.k.a. Calla, has worked in our Operations team for an impressive 33 years! Midland Lead customers enjoy the fruits of his labour as an expert shrinkwrapper. And outside work Calla enjoys his very own fruits and vegetables, freshly grown from his garden.

Chris has been a valued member of Team Midland Lead for over a decade and puts his long tenure down to the friendly working atmosphere. In his spare time Chris enjoys running and cycling.

Dan's worked in Operations for over a decade and enjoys the freedom he gets to manage his own workload. When he's not at work or with the family, Dan's quite partial to a day out at the horses!

Gemma Mulcahy joined Midland Lead aged 16, as a Level 2 Administration Apprentice in 2018. Working in the sales office, she soon progressed to a Level 3 Customer Service Specialist. During Covid, the Operations team were short-staffed due to staff isolation and Gemma volunteered to help out, quickly gaining her fork-lift truck licence. She’s now permanently employed in Operations, and is our only female production operative who can drive all Midland Lead vehicles including excavators and forklifts of up to 12 tonnes. 

Gemma looks back on her career journey to date: “I quickly felt like I was working as part of a forward-thinking company that supports its staff every step of the way. For me, job progression is a major thing and I know I have a really great career ahead of me at Midland Lead”.

Rob has worked in Midland Lead Operations for over 5 years. He's a great team player in and outside of work, enjoying a game of football in his spare time.

Martin enjoys the security of his Operations role, and likes to see the happy faces of his colleagues on a Monday morning. This particularly cheers him up if his football team has not performed well at the weekend.

Gary was officially retired when he decided to join Midland Lead part-time in 2021. He must enjoy it as he's now back to working full-time, as a factory operative!

William takes great pride from his work as an Operator, producing quality, eco-friendly lead sheet that will last for decades. Outside of work he loves spending time with his friends.

Toby is one of our newer team members in Operations. He's really enjoying both the everyday challenges which help to develop his skill set, combined with the longer-term growth and development opportunities at Midland Lead.

Ben is one of our newer team members, and loves working as a member of Team Midland Lead. His spare time is spent chilling with his partner or reading a good book.

Kane really enjoys the physical side of his job in Operations, and gets a buzz thinking about all the customers Midland Lead supports, all around the world. His evenings are often spent chilling on his Xbox.

Dean joined Team Midland Lead in July 2024, and loves the local, family-run culture here. In his spare time he enjoys watching football and spending time with his family.

James enjoys the wide range of training opportunities and scope for progression in the Operations team at Midland Lead. Outside work James is 'Pet Dad' to Dexter the dog and Tilly the mad cat, and claims to make 'the best pie ever'. We'll help taste-test that theory whenever you're ready, James!
